Dr. Zain Hassan Yamani (Director)

Dr. Zain is the Director of the KFUPM Center of Excellence in Nanotechnology. Dr. Yamani earned his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1999, and developed to become an Associate Professor Solid State Physics and Molecular Physics at KFUPM. Dr. Yamani’s work concentrates on using lasers for nanomaterials synthesis and applications in photocatalysis. Dr. Yamani also works on materials development for applications in petroleum catalysis and chemical sensing. Dr. Yamani received the King Abdul-Aziz Medal of Honor from King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz for his scientific accomplishments. He has tens of papers published in peer-reviewed journals in addition to tens of conference papers. He was awarded three USPTO patents with a few others in the pipeline.
